Athlete Guild stands at the forefront of organizing and promoting athletic events, offering a platform that seamlessly connects athletes, enthusiasts, and event organizers. Our commitment is to enrich your sporting experience, whether you're a seasoned athlete or a newcomer to the world of sports. With this blog, we want to make you aware of the many features of our platform. Whether you are a race director, event organizer, or athlete participant, you will discover the richness of our platform provided to assist you.
Our innovative venue subsystem is one of the many features meticulously designed to enhance your event experience. This system is more than just a list of locations; it's a comprehensive guide to the spaces where your athletic pursuits come to life.
Every event posted on our platform is attached to a venue. When an event is posted to our platform, the appropriate venue is attached to the event by either creating a new venue if it does not already exist or attaching to an existing venue. This allows you as a participant to look at the list of possible venues in an area and discover upcoming events or even find old events for that venue. In addition to the list of events, the venue also contains a list of possible routes that have been used. We try to post valid maps against these routes so that you as a participant can make informed decisions about your running experience. The routes provide the distance and direction information for the venue.
There are several features that these venues provide to both the race organizer and the participant. Firstly, you do not have to have an account to access the venues on the platform. By navigating to the Venues menu on the platform, you can search by city, postal code, and/or name of the venue. Once found, you can click on the venue and be taken to the venue home page. The venue home page contains a menu of options for looking at Events, Results, and Routes. In addition, there are links for directions and weather.
This venue feature has existed since day one of the platform's existence but has always been closed to race directors and system admins for creation. A new update to our platform now extends the ability to create venues for anyone. This will allow you as a participant to add your favorite locations and upload routes for that location. To access this feature you will first need to have a valid account on the platform. Once you log in, just navigate to the venue menu which will present you with two tabs: List and Create. The list of course will allow you to search for available venues. The Create tab will allow you to create a new venue. If you attempt to add a venue at an existing location, the platform will inform you. We want the list of venues to be clean so we reject attempts to add duplicate venues.
We hope that you will find this feature useful to your athletic adventures. Please let us know of any enhancements that would help improve the functionality.
