JAWS Skatepark is 17,000 sq ft skate surface but covers 25,000 sq ft total of park space. . There are two bowls and lots of street elements that flow together to form a hybrid park that works for beginners and experts alike. The park was designed by Wally Hollyday of California and built by Skatparks of Austin (SPA Skateparks). The park opened in June 2009 after 3 years of  fundraising. JAWS was the recipient of the 2007 Tony Hawk Foundation top award and was considered their "golden child" park. Other key donors to the park have been: City of New Braunfels, Lower Colorado River Authority, Wurstfest Foundation, CDBG Committee and the Downtown Rotary.
The park is the brainchild of Jamie Skinner and the "Skinner Skaters" and the JAWS TaskForce. They all worked closely with the New Braunfels Parks and Rec Department to bring the park to fruition.
The park draws skaters from at least 200 miles away and considered a treasure by local skaters and the City. Please PROTECT THE PARK, and be sure to pick up any trash.
