Event Purpose:
The Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos is hosting a triathlon which sponsors EarlyAct First Knight at Travis Elementary School in San Marcos, Texas. EarlyAct is offered 10 minutes each school day. The program was developed since there is a "need for character education" in schools, so an "early innovation" was facilitied to build up our children of tomorrow. This is a "timely opportunity" (quotes from EarlyAct website) that Rotary is glad to become apart of.
All proceeds will benefit the Greater San Marcos Rotary Foundation (501c3).
About This Event:
The Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos is proud to offer a sprint triathlon at the renowned Aquarena Springs. "The prestige Spring Lake is located in a 250-acre preserve. About half of the property is in the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone, and all of the property is part of the Sink Creek watershed." (hillcountryoutdoorguide.com)
With such a precious protected lake, the lake is closed to the public to swim in 363 days out of the year. Only two times during the course of a year is the crystal clear lake opened for public swim. The Rotary Club of Greater San Marcos Aquarena Springs TRI is one of those times. It is indeed a privilege to swim in the lake!
