The 3rd Annual Boo Bash Triathlon, powered by Al Willeford Chevrolet will consist of an Adult Tri only. The Adult Tri will have two events: a Sprint Tri and a Newbie Tri. This is a USAT sanctioned event. The Start and Finish for both events is at the Portland Community Center. This event is being presented by the City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department, Athlete Guild along with the Corpus Christi Triathlon Club.

 

Time:
8:00am - Sprint Triathlon including Sprint Relays
8:15am (Estimated Start Time) - Newbie Triathlon

Event Location:

City of Portland Community Center, 2000 Billy G. Webb, Portland, TX 78374.  Transition opens at 6:30am and closes at 7:30am.  Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to transition close.  Newbies please arrive early.

Post Event:
Food, drinks and music after the event.  We will have some grilled items including vegetarian items for all participants.
 
Events:
Sprint Tri:  400 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike and 5K Run for Ages 15 and Up.

Newbie Tri:  200 yard Swim, 6 mile Bike and 1 mile Run for Ages 15 and Up.

Sprint Tri Relay:  400 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike and 5K Run for Ages 15 and Up.  Minimum relay team size is two (2) people.  Maximum relay team size is three (3) people.  Relay teams may be all Male, all Female or Mixed.

The Newbie Tri is designed for those individuals who have not previously done a Tri or those who are not yet ready to do a longer Tri.  The Newbie allows individuals to "Try a Tri".  If you have always wanted to do a Tri, the Newbie is for you!
 

Age Eligibility:

You must be at least 15 years of age on the Event Date of October 10, 2015 to participate in the Adult Tri events; (Sprint, Sprint Relay, Newbie).  In a few rare exceptions, athletes under the age of 15 may apply to the Race Director for admission to the Adult Tri events. The Race Director has the final decision making authority regarding athlete participation.

Course Notes:

The Newbie Swim will take place immediately after the last Sprint Swimmer enters the water.  The Newbie Bike will utilize a portion of the New Sprint Bike course.  The Newbie Run will also utilize a portion of the Sprint Run.

Awards:  (Awards are based on USAT Age.  USAT Age is determined as of December 31, 2015)

Sprint Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female (15 to 39) and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 and Up) plus 1st / 2nd / 3rd Male and Female for age group awards. 

Newbie Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female (15 to 39) and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 and Up).  No age group awards for Newbie. 

Sprint Tri Relay - 1st / 2nd / 3rd Overall Relay Team.  No Age group awards for Relay.

Age Groups: (Sprint Tri Only.  No Age Groups for Newbie or Relay events)
19 and Under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 and Over

 

Packet Pickup:

Corpus Christi – Thursday, October 8 at Bay Area Bicycles from 4pm. to 7pm.  Bay Area Bicycles is located at 6020 South Padre Island Drive (SPID), Corpus Christi, TX 78412.

Portland – Friday, October 9 from 4pm to 6pm at Al Willeford Chevrolet.  Al Willeford Chevrolet is located at 1603 US-181 South, Portland, TX 78374.  Al Willeford Chevrolet is located between Wildcat Drive and Buddy Ganem Drive on the West side of the highway.

Remember to bring your USAT membership card to packet pickup if you are a member.  If you do not have your USAT card OR if you are not a member of USAT, you will be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to obtain your packet (No Exceptions).  All participants must bring some form of governmental ID card to packet pickup.  One day USAT membership is $12 for Adults 18 and Over and $10 for Youth 17 and Under.

 

One Day USAT Membership:

You MUST be covered by USAT supplemental insurance to participate in the Boo Bash Triathlon; NO Exceptions.  You are covered by USAT insurance if you are a member of USAT.  If you are not a member of USAT, you must purchase a one day membership to USAT.  The one day membership for USAT is $12 for Adults ages 18 and up and $10 for Youth ages 17 and under.  You will be charged for a one day USAT membership during registration if you are not a member.  If you indicated that you are a member but are not a USAT member, you can purchase your one day membership at packet pickup.  The registration fee for the event does not include the one day membership for USAT or the cost of a USAT membership.  The $12 fee or the $10 fee is collected by Athlete Guild on behalf of USAT.
