The late MR. RICK HERNANDEZ has been selected as the 2017 Día de los Muertos honoree & will be celebrated for his lifetime of service to the San Marcos community. Rick's son, Richard Hernandez Jr. will also be mentioned in rememberance. Richard Jr. lost his life when he was just 18 years old after being hit by by a vehicle while he was out for a run.
5K proceeds are allocated to the *Johnnie T. Rosales Memorial Scholarship (http://johnniejam.org/) which distributes annual scholarships (>$10,000 since 2010) to selected San Marcos High School graduating seniors, and also benefit the *Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos (www.sanmarcoscentro.org, a local cultural center and museum. *All donations to 501C3 non-profits are tax deductible.
