Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) was formed in 2007 by animal welfare advocates who joined forces to improve the lives of animals in the San Antonio area. Our members and participants consist of over 60 rescue groups and individual rescuers, and we work in partnership with local veterinarians, businesses, and others devoted to reducing the homeless pet population in and around San Antonio. Together, our members rescue and adopt out 1,000’s of animals each and every year! We are 100% run by volunteers.
In 2018, AAPAW provided funding for 315 spay/neuter procedures to both rescue groups and community residents. AAPAW also provided funding for 115 heartworm treatments. Heartworms are a prevalent (but both preventable and usually treatable) problem here in Texas.
Together We C-A-N!
Care - Educate our community to prevent animal abuse and promose pet retention through responsible pet ownership
Adopt - Ensure that every adoptable homeless dog or cat finds a good home
Neuter - End overpopulation of promoting spay/neuter
