VFW Post 6970 is hosting the first annual Veteran's Day 5k at the Strawberry Festival Fair Grounds. Proceeds benefit TADSAW.org (Train a Dog Save a Warrior) whose mission is to provide for the training of a Medical Alert Service dog, as designated by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, for any wounded warrior, active duty or veteran, surviving with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Military Sexual Trauma, (MST), and/or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), in order to restore and improve the warrior's quality of life with a canine 'Battle Buddy', at no charge to the warrior.
Event schedule and times
Race is open to all ages and speeds including walkers, wheelchairs, strollers, joggers, and runners. Race starts at 0800 at the Strawberry Festival entrance. Parking is free. Weather permitting we will have information booths for veteran assistance programs and a small child area.
