Due to COVID-19 concerns, we have gone virtual this year to ensure safety of our volunteers and runners. The Gruene Turkey Trot has become a holiday tradition for many of our runners and their families. We look forward to returning to an in-person event as soon as conditions allow.
To fulfill our mission and continue to support the important work that Blue and Green Santa, along with other organizations that assist law enforcement in serving the children in our community, we will be hosting a virtual event that is a “Run-it-yourself” race which can be run or walked anytime between November 23rd through November 27th. The race can be completed anywhere (treadmills included), and you get to choose your own course.
As in past races, registration will include our very popular dry fit t-shirts with Turkey Tommy wearing his face mask. Additionally, we are honoring Deputy Eddy Luna #343, who was recently injured in the line of duty, by including “Luna Strong” on the back of the shirt with a thin blue line. Deputy Luna has volunteered every year at the Trot working traffic control for our runners and we want to honor his service to this community. With your registration, you will receive a t-shirt and a special CCFK face mask with our logo which will be mailed to you at the address used in your registration.
We will be live streaming on Facebook Thanksgiving Day morning from Gruene for you to join the CCFK Board and some law enforcement officers who will be running the course in honor of Deputy Luna. Stay tuned for more details.
We encourage you to be creative and post pictures or videos of how and where you run your race on the CCFK Facebook page. We will award medals for our best costumes, best race locale and possibly more prizes as the race draws closer. All prizes will be awarded after all pictures have been posted on Facebook on or before November 27th.
