The Blues Capital of Texas 5K will start at August Horst Park in Navasota at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013. The course will cross State Highway 105 and roll through the beautiful River Haven subdivision - which is all flat road surface.
Through the race, runners will see the new Six Flags monument in the park, the new Navasota Airport expansion and the gorgeous scenery of RIver Haven. Last year's inaugural race ended before the searing heat began. In fact, the pavilion at August horst Park provides a nice shade where wind whips through.
The 1-mile Kids Fitness Challenge will begin at 8:30 a.m. It is open to kids ages 5-13, and the 1-mile race will have obstacles built into them - running through ropes on the ground, push up, jumping jacks, etc. Prizes will be given to all kids who run, and we plan on having door prizes and giveaways, in addition to nice prizes for the winners.
