About

Mason, Texas, about 100 miles from Austin, San Angelo, and San Antonio will hold its 14th Annual Gem of the Hill Country 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at 8:30AM. Come and run the trail that was traveled by Native Americans, General Robert E. Lee, and numerous other historical figures that settled Texas. This race course is a good training course for individuals or teams that are training for future half or full marathons but easy enough for the novice runner or walker.

Course

The 5K runs take place on mostly paved roads(1/4 mile dirt). The race starts near the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library and finishes at Heritage Park. The course is scenic and far from flat with a few challenging hills thrown in for fun. Water stations will be available at every mile. First aid available on call, water at finish. Come for the run, stay for the FREE Old Yeller Days Festival at Heritage Park 9-2pm!
