About This Event
Start and finish at Porretto Beach. Run entirely on sand, the Sand Crab is a great way to get a little exercise under the stars on a beautiful Galveston Beach at night, get fed, have a few beers by a bonfire while listening to great music with other runners on a summer night. Both races are chip timed and will start at 8:30 pm. This 5K run is very walker friendly with a 2hr cut off. The 10K is walkable but will share the 2 hr cut off. 10K runners must be at the 3.1 mile turnaround within 1 hour.
The Sand Crab starts on beautiful Porretto Beach and runs east for 3.1 or 1.55 miles (depending on the event). Then turns back to the finish. The course is lit with glow sticks and tiki torches. Runners are required to run with a flashlight or head lamp. There are 2 watertops with HEB Quench and water hit 2X ea for the 10K and 1 hit 2X for the 5K. After finishing runners receive bbq with all the fixins and cold cerveza for those of age. Extra BBQ plates available for $10 (this is a good deal).

Packet Pickup
Early packet pick up will be in Houston, Thursday, 10:00 am–7:00 pm at Fleet Feet on Woodway from and Friday, 10:00 am–7:00 pm at Fleet Feet on Rice Blvd from. In Galveston at Fit to Run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am–6:00 pm. THERE WILL BE NO PACKET PICK UP AT PORRETTO BEACH.

This includes an awesome live band, bbq and cerveza (for those over 21. We ID) lasting until 1:00 am.
