Chosen Marathon October 27, 2012

About

I decided to run another race after my 26.2 three weeks prior to this one all for my dear friend on her first 13.1. My friend Maria has been running with me over the course of the year and even in my pregnant days, ha! We decided it was her time she was going to run a 13.1 race. Maria is a wonderful runner she needs to give herself lots of credit. The race that came up next for a 13.1 was the Chosen Marathon Race. It's for an excellent cause. I enjoy nothing more than serving in my community, volunteer work, donating, and giving my time. So this it all the good reasons to run this race in supporting the Non-profit organizations, orphans, adoptions, agencies, & etc. Besides its perfect timing for Maria and 13.1 race.

This was an awesome race. October 25, 2012 I picked up my girlfriend Maria who is running her first half marathon to go to Run-On for packet pick up. We decided to eat at Aldecco's located in the Stone Oak area for lunch; it was a super duper delicious lunch.

Friday October 26, 2012 I had a Zio's lunch meeting so I did Carb-up for say.

October 27, 2012 Saturday the day of the race I woke up at 4:45 am. I got ready pretty rapidly so I was ready to pick Maria up at approximately 5:20 am. We drove to New Braunfels, Texas, for the Chosen Marathon Race. We were pumped and filled with excitement. Ready to run the race. We had VIP parking so we parked and strolled our  way to the VIP room. It was very nice. The ladies were absolute dolls, very sweet, and all so nice. Maria and I nibbled on some bagels. I ate some fruit. Did some one say, "MASSAGE?"  We then took advantage of the onsite massage therapists who were giving massages prior to the race. This was wonderful only I was so relaxed I could take a nap. One last time to make our way to the potty room and the line was out the door, no surprise? Seriously!!!

The race started right on at 7:15 am and there we were off to the races. It was a beautiful race full of hills & all. Up and down like a roller coaster train. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. The perfect running weather. I was just enjoying the stroll with Maria. The miles seemed to have come so fast but I had so much energy. I was enjoying looking at the ambiance and people as I ran on. Then came mile 6,7,8,9,10. I looked at Maria and said this is it girl the last 3!!! Its all you girl. The last 3 needless to say were hilly but not too bad at all.  This was NOTHING that we could not handle. Then mile 12 came up; the smile on Maria's face as she light up as I turned to look at her. I said, "lets go girl!!" We ran with excitement, energy, wonderful smiles and finished strong as the announcer said that we were flying in full speed. Maria did a tremendous job!! She stood strong with so much energy and ended up with 2:20 time. Not bad for a first timer huh? I'll say, " that is a super duper tremendous job well done!"

Maria does not know it yet but she can go faster and is an awesome running gal. See you at the next 4TH annual race in New Braunfels, Maria! You did awesome girl!! I am so proud of Maria for never giving up and always pushing for more. You rock girl! She is an inspiration to those even thinking or considering doing a 1/2 marathon.

"The pain of finishing is nothing compare to the pain of quitting." We are strong and definitely NOT quitters. We never even thought of it or allowed it to cross our minds!!!

"A half marathon is a good way to have a bit of fun and race against those girls and learn a bit more about them. The world half marathon is a world championship at the end of the day and it's important. I've win it twice and it's a quality event." ~Daniel Radcliffe

"In running, it doesn't matter whether you come in first, in the middle of the pack, or last. You can say, 'I have finished.' There is a lot of satisfaction in that." -Fred Lebow, New York City Marathon co-founder   <------I love this quote, and its so true to all those silly people who don't give others credit for what they deserve. Maybe they should just congratulate the finisher on a job well done.

"Running is the greatest metaphor for life, because you get out of it what you put into it."
-Oprah Winfrey

See you' all at the next race,
