Start and finish at Porretto Beach. Run entirely on sand, the Sand Crab is a great way to get a little exercise under the stars on a beautiful Galveston Beach at night, get fed, have a few beers while listening to great music with other runners on asummer night. All race are chip timed including the Kid's Mile. The Kid's Mile will start at 8pm. Parents are welcome to run with the kids free of charge. The 5K/10K will start at 8:30PM. The 5K run is walker friendly with a 2 hour cutoff. The 10K is walkable but will share the 2 hour cutoff. 10K runners must be at the 3.1 mile turnaround within one hour. The Sand Crab starts on beautiful Porretto Beach and runs east for 3.1 or 1.55 miles (depending on the event). Then turns back to the finish. The course is lit with glow sticks and flashing lights. Runners are required to run with a flashlight or head lamp. There are two waterstops with HEB Quench and water hit 2X ea for the 10K and 1 hit 2X for the 5K. After finishing runners receive bbq with all the fixins and cold cerveza for those of age. Extra pBBQ plates available for $15 (this is a good deal).
