Running to support the siblings in families experiencing infant loss.
Mercy Elizabeth lived 13 miraculous days. Her family, including her brother and sister, were profoundly affected by her brief but full life. all Mercy knew was love. This love and support of the entire famly in the midst of such a tragic loss leads us to reach out to others experiencing a similar loss. We know first hand the struggles surrounding infant loss. We seek to help families, specifically the siblings, by providing assistance to those siblings through financially supporting their continued education. By maintaining consitency amid the chaos of infant loss these siblings have an opportunity to continue in their established settings as theylearn, grow, and navigate the loss by engaging in normal preschool activities.
The Mercy Run 5K/1 Mile Fun Run is to support the Mercy Whitfield Memorial Scholarship Fund. This Fund, originally established to sponsor a preschool student whose parents were fiscally challenged to attend a preschool in Mercy's name, now seeks in the Second Year, and beyond, to expand its reach by specifiallu help the siblings of families experiencing infant loss.
The Mercy Run 5K also seeks to raise awareness of infant loss and of the availability of family support for those experienceing such a loss. As well, the Mercy Run 5K seeks to promote health and wellness for the entire family.
