Recently I was approached by a race director who was claiming the advantages of a competitors timing system. She was convinced that they had a better system because a claim is that their product is used for timing Formula 1. I had to laugh. I'm not sure whether the salesperson was being dishonest, disingenuous, or just naive, but it's not possible to use the same system used for road races to time a formula 1 event.
