Mason, Texas, about 100 miles from Austin, San Angelo, and San Antonio will hold its 17th Annual Gem of the Hill Country 5K Run/Walk.
Come and run the trail that was traveled by Native Americans, General Robert E. Lee, and numerous other historical figures that settled Texas. This race course is a good training course for individuals or teams that are training for future half or full marathons but easy enough for the novice runner or walker.
All participants who register before August 31st will receive a t-shirt.
The Gem of the Hill Country 5K Run/Walk takes place on mostly paved roads(1/4 mile dirt). The course is scenic and far from flat with a few challenging hills thrown in for fun. Water stations will be available at every mile. First aid available on call.
The race starts and ends directly behind the Mason County Library at Heritage Park. Free water and snacks at finish.
