Wilson County Adoption and Rescue Services is excited to present our inagural Running Down a Dream 5K Trail Race.  In addition to being a regular human trail race, we are also offering the only Canicross trail race in our area (Human/Dog team)!  So if you and your dog are regular running partners, give it a try!  Or just run it by yourself.  Either way you are helping the non-profit Wilson County Adoption and Rescue Services organization meet its mission to provide safe, temporary shelter and compassionate care for stray, abandoned, and surrendered animals while working to place them in permanent, loving homes.

Canicross Requirements

All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination, to be presented at check-in.

All dogs must be securely tethered to their human teammate for the entire race.  

Dogs displaying aggressive behavior to other participants (dogs or humans) before or during the race will be disqualified at the discretion of the Race Director.  Same goes to humans 🤣.

Recommended Equipment:

-Harnesses designed for dog running are preferred over simple collars.

-Running belts with shock absorbing leashes allow the runner to stay hands free

-Portable water bowl for use at water stations
