The Coastal Bend Blood Center, established in 1969, is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(3), community service organization committed to unifying, centralizing, and consolidating blood donor services in the Coastal Bend. These services include community education, donor recruiting, drawing, processing, and distribution. An effective and efficient organization, more than 90% of the Blood Center’s annual expenditures go directly to program services to benefit the community. The Blood Center provides services to 22 medical facilities in its 10-county service area of Aransas, Bee, Brooks, Duval, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio, and San Patricio. Bloodmobiles operate seven days a week to meet hospital and patient needs in this large geographical area.
This run is the Coastal Bend Blood Center's only fundraiser throughout the year that allows the Blood Center to continue providing a safe and adequate blood supply for the Coastal Bend community.
