About
Description:

The seventh annual Run for the Bluebonnets will be Saturday, February 23rd, 2013. This event began as a fundraiser for our school, but has evolved into a community wide event, promoting health and fitness,  in which over 400 people participated in last year. Even if you’ve never run a 5K before, you can start a training program today, and you can do it! Here’s another super easy training plan for new runners.

Spice up your training with some of these cool training tools and calculators at marathonguide.com.

Registration:

Early registration fees are only $10.00 for the Kids Run (open to kids 12 and under only)  and $25.00 for the 5K run. Fees increase on Feb. 9th. Participants receive a t-shirt, with the logo chosen from the T-shirt design contest, and a runner’s packet with goodies from our wonderful sponsors. Runners are also eligible to be entered into a raffle drawing to win prizes after the run. Past prizes have included gift certificates from Sugar Shack, Berdoll Pecans, Benny’s Texas Bar-b-que, tickets to the Empty Bowl Project, Schlitterbahn and the grand prizes of two one-night stays at the Hyatt Lost Pines! Trophies will also be given to the top 3 placings per age group in the 5K, and medals will be given to all kids participating in the 1K.

You can register online, by mail, or in person at the Bluebonnet office. You may request a registration form from the school, or print the one below.

Last day for online registration will be Thursday, Feb. 21st. Registrations after Feb. 10th not guaranteed a t-shirt.

Directions: From Hwy 71 East, exit Hasler/Childers/Loop 150. Turn left at the light onto Loop 150. Cross a bridge over the Colorado River as you enter the Historical District of Bastrop. Turn left on Alley A, then left on Farm.
Parking: You will be guided to the parking lots on your right as you enter Fisherman’s Park from Farm Street. Once these are full, you may park in open spaces along the streets or in the library lot on Spring St. Please arrive early to allow time to park, pick up your packet and line up at the starting line.
General Information:

Packet pick-up will be on race day, near start/finish line.

Your race number should be attached to the front of your shirt with safety pins. Please do not attach the tear tag portion at the bottom, as this will be torn off by volunteers when you finish the run. Please only wear your own number, as this will be used to determine finishing times.

Baby joggers, strollers and pets are welcome, but please, no roller blades, bikes or skateboards.

If you are interested in volunteering, becoming a sponsor, or have other questions, please email Debby.
